A World We Dare to Imagine

Human trafficking still continues to be a problem in the world, most prominently in countries like Russia, China, and Iran. The notion of human trafficking is extremely degrading to both men and women who experience it—human trafficking not only harms them physically but also mentally in the long run. It is basically modern day slavery. Often times, the people that are held captive for an extended amount of time lose the ability to grow as a person and achieve the credentials to obtain a decent paying job and a stable life. So the people that do manage to escape the harsh realities of their life experience even harder realities as they struggle to make a comfortable living. This is unfair because they are now suffering the consequences of someone else’s doing. 

That being said, establishing an organization or partnering with some, such as Polaris, that already promotes anti-trafficking would be my first step towards making the world a better place. A few ways to aid men and women who have been trafficked are by creating a safe and secure place for them to live temporarily until they are on their feet again. Living there would also include opportunities to attend educational classes that will act as a supplement towards getting a job in their desired fields and group or individual therapy sessions. All of which would help to teach the men and women how to fend for themselves and give them a sense of security as they try to let go of their past life.

    This is such a big problem globally, that needs to be addressed. I think partnering with an existing organization is a great idea. I will give you the necessary tools you need, in order to achieve success in your own organization. By giving these people the opportunity to transition into daily life allows them a way out.

    Hi Katie,

    I couldn't agree with you more about how big a problem this is. From an Indian perspective, Human Trafficking for sex slavery is a widespread practice and continues till date. The worst part is that young children are actually 'sold' by their parents due to economic hardships and lack of knowledge.

    I think the next step in curtailing this would be the education of these adults who let this sort of practice continue and even partake in such activities.

    Hi Katie! Human trafficking is one of the worlds major global problems and I feel like there needs to be more done to stop this horrendous act. I completely agree with you that having a recovery and safe space for these men and women who have been trafficked will be really effective. It is hard to imagine what state of mind they must be and I believe a organization like this can really help the victims and spread a greater awareness to this issue.

    Human trafficking is such a serous global issue that needs to be addressed and fought on a global level. The resources your proposed organization will offer will be amazing support programs and initiatives that individuals who went through this desperately need. A clean bed and education courses are crucial extra that will help these individuals get their lives back.

An organization targeted to aid those who have escaped human trafficking a way out by offering a safe space for them to stay temporarily until they learn the necessary skill sets to take on the world. We will achieve this by offering bed spaces as well as educational classes in their desired work field and group or individual therapy sessions.
